Anonymous asked: I weigh 220 pounds and I'm trying to lose weight so bad. I wanna weigh 135. I hate myself so much and I'm seriously thinking about being anorexic. I just wanna be skinny by summer /:
Please please think what you’ve just said to me.
Anorexia is an illness. It isn’t a diet plan.
It will take you in, it will seduce you and control you and break you inside and out, and if you don’t manage to put yourself through one of the most difficult challenges you’ll ever have to face, you will die.
It is the most deadly of all mental illnesses so don’t think I’m messing with, I’m not, it’s FACT. And only 30-40% ever fully recover so even if you don’t die there’s a very large chance that you will never properly get better.
You do not want something that will haunt your every thought. You do not want something that will make you so miserable that you cease to care that your body is decaying around your broken soul. You don’t want to hurt and hurt and honestly believe that you will never stop hurting.
What you DO want is to be thin, ok? And that we can do, I will not help you destroy yourself but I’m happy to help you lose weight.
Ok, that over let’s get to the helpful part. Summer is about 7 months away so you’ll have to lose about 3lbs a week every week between now and then to make that happen which is hard but doable. Also the weight will come of a little quicker to begin with so if you’re determind you will get there.
Fresh and clean is the key. Did you make it yourself? Was it made by someone for you? Then leave it alone. SOOOO much extra fat and salt and sugar goes into premade food. Vegetables is the key, make sure you eat loads of those, try and limit your fat and carb intake, things like cheese, oils, pasta and bread. So eg, if you were having a stir fry have grilled chicken breast, (if you season it beforehand and fry it in a tiny bit of oil with chopped garlic and lemon juice its delicious!), instead of noodles try grated carrot and cabbage. Or half the noodles you would normally have and extra veg. But for a meal make sure its mainly veg with some protein (chicken, lean pork, fish, veggie alternatives, egg whites). Herbs and spices are an easy way top make a meal tasty without adding cals, fresh coriander tastes amazing as well as parsley, lemon thyme, just try it all, go crazy! Adding fresh herbs, finely diced onion and lime juice to a salad makes it taste wonderful, not boring at all.Middle eastern recipes are good for fresh flavours, have a look on google (but they’re fond of oil and red meat so try and avoid those bits :p). Also vegan recipes tend to be lower cal, you don’t have to go vegan but they can be a source of inspiration. Try and get your fats from good sources like nuts and oily fish, you will need some in your diet so make sure its the nutritious kind not the empty kind!
DO NOT FORGET THE ODD TREAT. It will prevent binging and giving up, trust me, a cupcake every 2 or 3 days is WAYYY better than having a massive blowout after 10 days and gaining 4lbs in one night (I’ve done it before, its not a great feeling).
Give yourself time to adjust to eating fresh healthy flavours instead of things loaded with sugar, fat and salt, it only takes a couple of weeks before you start to crave things like salad and fruit instead of pizza, and when you do have the odd macdonalds (when you’re having your odd treat) you’ll be able to taste all the fat and grease so much you’ll wonder how you didn’t notice before! From then it’ll be ALOT easier to make healthy choices :)
Also this is going to sound really stupid and obvious but it WORKS.
1) When you want to eat something go have a big glass of water (or tea) and wait 15-20 mins.
2) If you’re still hungry then it’s most likely real hunger not thirst or boredom. While eating CHEW SLOWLY, put down your fork between each mouthful and sip water after every few mouthfuls. It takes your body time to realise it’s full, eating slowly will allow the signal to reach you in time so you don’t over eat.
And thats it, eat well and eat slow and you should be good :) I don’t like exercise much so I would recommend walking. Its easy to fit in and makes your legs look really good :) you can listen to music while you do it, it can be a good excuse to trek round the mall for 3 hours, whatever, but it burns cals so try it!
