vainpretentiousabsurd asked: Hello , could you help me ? My friends want to go to the indian restaurant tonight and I don't know what I'll be able to eat... I want something "safe" so I cant still enjoy the night with my friends.. I don't want my food issue to tear my apart from my friends ... Any idea of a plate that isn't too "risky" ? xxx

Tandoori chicken usually comes without sauce so that saves LOADS of cals and chicken in itself is pretty low cal. As for side dishes most places will give you greek yogurt on the side if you ask for it (as something more liquid to go with your chicken). A good trick is to order the hottest vegetable curry they have and *surprise surprise* the sauce is burning your mouth. The obvious solution would be to pick out the veg and eat them mixed with your yogurt to cool it down ;) this also works with chicken/prawn curries, prawns are high protein and low fat. If people question why you ordered your food so hot say you like the FLAVOUR but can’t handle the actual spiciness sometimes, hence the yogurt. I personally get hotter curries and eat them mixed with yogurt because I like to have the spiciness without the crazy heat some curries have. As for rice, order a portion to share, if that’s not possible opt for a naan instead of rice because its really easy to just tear off little strips and drop it into a napkin on your lap. I wish I could recommend some low cal dishes for an Indian restaurant but tbh they don’t really have any, none that I would imagine would be low enough for your liking. Next time suggest a restaurant that has healthier options! But honestly, super hot curry, the important parts picked out and mixed with yogurt (and a little sauce for flavour), it’s really tasty so you can actually ENJOY your meal, both in taste and calorie wise :) good luck hun and just remember to be relaxed and happy xxx

I say the same thing over when people ask about food, so here is everything I can think to say in answer to that question

The main thing to remember is VEG. Make sure your plate is mainly veg, challange yourself to eat 3 a week you haven’t had before/don’t normally eat, make sure you get variety in there!

Fresh and clean is the key. Did you make it yourself? Was it made by someone for you? Then leave it alone. SOOOO much extra fat and salt and sugar goes into premade food. Vegetables is the key, make sure you eat loads of those, try and limit your fat and carb intake, things like cheese, oils, pasta and bread. So eg, if you were having a stir fry have grilled chicken breast, (if you season it beforehand and fry it in a tiny bit of oil with chopped garlic and lemon juice its delicious!), instead of noodles try grated carrot and cabbage. Or half the noodles you would normally have and extra veg. But for a meal make sure its mainly veg with some protein (chicken, lean pork, fish, veggie alternatives, egg whites). Herbs and spices are an easy way top make a meal tasty without adding cals, fresh coriander tastes amazing as well as parsley, lemon thyme, just try it all, go crazy! Adding fresh herbs, finely diced onion and lime juice to a salad makes it taste wonderful, not boring at all.Middle eastern recipes are good for fresh flavours, have a look on google (but they’re fond of oil and red meat so try and avoid those bits :p). Also vegan recipes tend to be lower cal, you don’t have to go vegan but they can be a source of inspiration. Try and get your fats from good sources like nuts and oily fish, you will need some in your diet so make sure its the nutritious kind not the empty kind!

DO NOT FORGET THE ODD TREAT. It will prevent binging and giving up, trust me, a cupcake every 2 or 3 days is WAYYY better than having a massive blowout after 10 days and gaining 4lbs in one night (I’ve done it before, its not a great feeling).

Give yourself time to adjust to eating fresh healthy flavours instead of things loaded with sugar, fat and salt, it only takes a couple of weeks before you start to crave things like salad and fruit instead of pizza, and when you do have the odd macdonalds (when you’re having your odd treat) you’ll be able to taste all the fat and grease so much you’ll wonder how you didn’t notice before! From then it’ll be ALOT easier to make healthy choices :)

Also this is going to sound really stupid and obvious but it WORKS.
1) When you want to eat something go have a big glass of water (or tea) and wait 15-20 mins.
2) If you’re still hungry then it’s most likely real hunger not thirst or boredom. While eating CHEW SLOWLY, put down your fork between each mouthful and sip water after every few mouthfuls. It takes your body time to realise it’s full, eating slowly will allow the signal to reach you in time so you don’t over eat.

And thats it, eat well and eat slow and you should be good :) I don’t like exercise either so I would recommend walking. Its easy to fit in and makes your legs look really good :) you can listen to music while you do it, it can be a good excuse to trek round the mall for 3 hours, whatever, but it burns cals so try it!

As for the exercise you need to give yourself longer, at least 2 weeks before you would be able to see anything, and thats only if you’re being really careful with your intake too, so just keep going :p

Anonymous asked: I weigh 220 pounds and I'm trying to lose weight so bad. I wanna weigh 135. I hate myself so much and I'm seriously thinking about being anorexic. I just wanna be skinny by summer /:

Please please think what you’ve just said to me.

Anorexia is an illness. It isn’t a diet plan.

It will take you in, it will seduce you and control you and break you inside and out, and if you don’t manage to put yourself through one of the most difficult challenges you’ll ever have to face, you will die.
It is the most deadly of all mental illnesses so don’t think I’m messing with, I’m not, it’s FACT. And only 30-40% ever fully recover so even if you don’t die there’s a very large chance that you will never properly get better.

You do not want something that will haunt your every thought. You do not want something that will make you so miserable that you cease to care that your body is decaying around your broken soul. You don’t want to hurt and hurt and honestly believe that you will never stop hurting.

What you DO want is to be thin, ok? And that we can do, I will not help you destroy yourself but I’m happy to help you lose weight.

Ok, that over let’s get to the helpful part. Summer is about 7 months away so you’ll have to lose about 3lbs a week every week between now and then to make that happen which is hard but doable. Also the weight will come of a little quicker to begin with so if you’re determind you will get there.

Fresh and clean is the key. Did you make it yourself? Was it made by someone for you? Then leave it alone. SOOOO much extra fat and salt and sugar goes into premade food. iconophilist asked: So I have a weight loss question for you if you don't mind, I've been wondering, how much of a difference does it make eating say 1000 calories in fruit and veg and salad rather than 1000 of an assortment of food (like some veg some carbs some unhealthy shit ect). Since weight loss is essentially a calorie defect or whatever that word is, will it make a significant diffeence to weight loss? Even if your eating an equal ammount of calories? And if so how much of a difference? Thanks xxxxxxxxxxxxx

The healthier your cals the better it’ll be for you, eg 100 cals of carrots will be better for you than 100 cals of chocolate! Also it will help you stay fuller for longer, 200 cals of chocolate is not even a whole bars worth, whereas 148 cals of veg and egg whites looks like this:You can’t feel empty if you’re eating your 1000 cals like that! But there is always space for other cals in your diet, 1000 cals of veg will be too much to food to physically eat so of course add in some carbs if you like, protein is a must and give yourself the odd treat so you don’t crack and binge. Have the odd bit of chocolate, have the odd bit of cake, it helps you staying on track because you’re not deprived and when you reach your GW and are maintaining you’ll have learnt how to make room for ‘naughty’ food in your diet making it easier to keep up :)

x-v-i-deactivated20130115 asked: I want to binge. What can I do to prevent it?

Try to remember how far you’ve come and the progress you’ve made already. Also remember WHY you want to lose weight.

Failing that think long and hard about what you want to eat, imagine how it will taste and feel in you mouth. Imagine all the calories that you’ll be taking in per mouthful. Drink a big glass of water then go fetch whatever it is you want to eat. Eat it slowly, chew the mouthful, take in the taste. Swallow it. Now think, for a second, did it taste as amazing as you thought? Think about how that felt, then think about how much you will gain as a result. Think about the feeling when you first stand on the scale and it has a lower number, or you can wear a smaller sized item of clothes. Does the food you’re eating taste better than that feeling? If the answer is yes then have a big mouthful of water and go on ahead and take another bite. Then think it over again.

If you’re truly going to binge then there’s not an awful lot I can say that will stop you. But often I find I have that first bite, or first few bites and the regret has already set in, what takes strength is to realise that you CAN stop, you DON’T have to eat all of what you planned. So think about what you’re eating, force yourself to acknowledge the fact that you’re choosing misery and disappointment over your GW.

Also, allow yourself the odd treat from time to time, if you work it into your diet it will prevent you snapping and binging on that forbidden food. And if binging is something you struggle with they to keep your intake regular and not too restrictive. Yes your weightloss will be slower than if you’re eating next to nothing but by skipping the two step forwards, one step back that is starving and binging you will lose more weight in the long term and keep it off. Good luck hun, stay strong xxx

Anonymous asked: Hey :) So; healthy foods eventually bore me, and I can never stay on track. What are some fun excercises/non boring foods to eat that would keep me on track, where I won't quit after a couple of days.

Walking and dancing are good exercises. Just be silly in your room along with your music or go for a long walk (also with music :p) easy way to burn cals without it feeling too much like exercise.

As for the foods, fresh veg can be really nice! Try boiling carrots in fresh orange juice (from concentrate wont work) to give them a lovely sweet taste, or adding a little splenda to the water, or roasting them in the oven with a little honey. Sweetcorn and baby peas, and sweet potato also taste yummy. There are so many different types of fruits too. Start off with fruit and veg you find taste nice until you get used to less processed over flavoured/sweetened food, then work your way over to the ‘less exciting’ foods, you just need to give yourself time to adjust. There are so so so many healthy recipes, have you tried looking online? Things like home made fish fingers are stupidly delicious, fun to make and good for you. Explore healthy/homemade versions of foods you already know and love and go from there. And don’t forget, you can still have your treat foods, just make sure its in moderation. Good luck hun! :D

Anonymous asked: What are the best ways to purge? I'd like to kick my (successful) weight loss up a notch but I seriously have almost no gag reflex (I know people make it into some stupid dirty joke but in my case it's true) so it's hard for me to induce vomiting. Is there something like ipecac that's safe to take regularly?

There is no way to purge safely. I suppose some ways are less dangerous than others (for example there are cases of ipecac killing instantly due to a heart attack).

At the end of the day either you will purge or you wont, I can’t stop you, but if you’re unable to then I hope to keep it that way, I don’t want to be responsible for you purposefully searching to damage yourself.

Also your weightloss has been successful, you said so yourself, be content in that and avoid slipping (or jumping) into disordered eating, its far too easy to start and far too hard to stop.

Anonymous asked: do think its better to dinner a little or not to dinner?

Depends on what you’ve eaten already that day, what time it is ect. Having a light dinner early on can prevent late night binging (if you’re that way inclined). Personally I avoid ‘dinner’ and have a snack in the evening if I’m hungry :)

dearyourholiness-deactivated201 asked: Hey!

I was just wondering, do you have any tips of how to get under the 10st mark? I'm currently 10st 4, and I'm generally stuck in that region, might be a plateau, I don't know.

I don't calorie count, cos I'm quite unstable (haha, best be honest here) and I think it would make me obsess and get really depressed/unhappy/fixated etc.

I exercise nearly every day, between 600-1000 cal workouts at a time, and I eat fruit and veg. One thing I struggle with is sweet cravings, ugh.

Can you suggest anything?
Thanks, you're such a great blog to follow - I saw what you said to the other girls earlier and it was so nice.

Oh thank you! I’m glad you like following me, it’s always nice to hear :)

I got stuck in the low 140’s too, I find this happens to me every 10lbs or so? It IS annoying. If you’re eating well and exercising then it may be that you need to change your exercise routine a little?

When I get stuck though, what I do is have a day, sometimes two, where I can eat what I like, then for a week or so after I restrict to 500 or less (but I also exercise less), that should get the momentum moving again. If that doesn’t work then up the cals for a week to say 1200 but also up the exercise, doing something different should shock your body into doing something different. Make sure you incorporate different types of exercising into your routine too, if you do alot running try something a little calmer like yoga or walking, if you do alot of walking try dancing and jumping around your bedroom, switch it up a little!

Also if that doesn’t work, try varying your mealtimes and meal composition (eg, more/less fats than usual, more/less protien ect).

I hope this helps babe, I KNOW how frustrating platus are. Though with me I find the main thing is will power, it takes that much extra effort to break through it and I just need the determination to stick it out :p

I hope you get through it soon babe, I know how frustrating it is!!! <3

ang3wa-deactivated20120101-deac asked: I feel like giving up a lot , but I really want to lose weight. I get hungry but I can't eat. I feel like I've failed myself if I ate. I do my exercises but i feel like it's not enough. I know it's a stupid question but how much weight could I lose if I didn't eat for two days?

It depends on a lot of factors. If you’ve just binged then you would lose a fair amount but that would be due to all the food in your digestive system passing through and you becoming empty. If you’re empty already then you would lose less but of course you wont be empty (or near empty) unless you had been very heavily restricting/fasting beforehand.

Its a case of how fast your metabolism is, whether or not you’re going to retain water or lose water you had been retaining. Whatever you do lose will most likely be lean muscle, thats what your body burns first because it thinks it’s starving and thinks its going to need its fat stores later. Plus you’re going to appear to ‘gain’ a couple of pounds as soon as you start eating because of having food in your system again.

Ass for the feeling that you’ve failed yourself if you eat, remember: you are NOT failing yourself by eating. If you eat some egg white its full of protein, if you eat a banana its good for potassium, food is fuel for you body to keep it working properly. Food is not an indulgence, not eating is an indulgence. Starving yourself is not strong, eating right so your body will function is strong. Exercising the right amount for your body is always enough, pushing yourself past your limits is just punishing yourself. I try to remind myself it’s not my bodys fault that my minds weird and it’s not fair to make it suffer. If you feed your body healthy stuff it will lose weight and be less fatty to boot, its often harder than just not eating but you’re pretty hardcore, I’m sure you can do it :) *hugs* <3 x

Anonymous asked: Does playing Wii sport count as exercise?
My family got a Wii for easter, and they didn't buy wii fit but they bought wii sport and wii sport resort?

I know it won't count the same as hard core exercising and stuff, but is it still some form of exercising?

Of COURSE it is! Anything that gets a you a little sweaty or out of breath can count really but yeah, wii sport most definitely counts :)

thisisadeadbloggoawaynow asked: so if it burns the same amount of calories walking a certain distance as it does to run the same distance, why do people run at all? does it offer other benefits or something?

Because its a different type of workout, walking is quite a gentle exercise, though meant to be good for toning your legs, I’ve always found it good for that.

Running increase the heart beat and burns whatever carbs it is you’ve eaten but also helps burn fat supplies, it’s very good if you want to decrease in fat.

But if you prefur walking then walk, it’ll all be the same in the end, it’s worked well for me so I swear by it :) nothing like a good 2 hour walk in a warm evening with a friend or some music :)

stopwondering-startacting asked: god i am feeling so bad right now..i've eaten lots of chocolate.. i was eating healthier and now...i'm a fucking cow!! I also need to loose 10 lbs... and i've got two weeks.. :/ any advice?

Yeah, Easters a bitch for chocolate :/ 10lbs in two weeks is doable but only if you’re mega unhealthy about it, I would suggest aiming for 7lbs instead.

All I can say is exercise like a beast, cardio is best. Also keep the cals low, like 1000 but make sure they’re healthy cals, clean foods mainly veg and fruit, nothing processed. Also go easy on the carbs because dropping them can make you look noticeably slimmer quite quickly if you want a temporary quick-fix… Also try to exercise awa yas many of the cals you’ve eaten as you can :)

God speed and good luck!

sweetvanillabear-deactivated201 asked: Today I decided I am going to lose ten pounds. I need some advice on how..I just had McDonald's. I always find myself eating until my stomach hurts. Or not eating for days. I need something steady I'm still fat. To me.

Ok. I guess it’ll be best to work on the over eating. Introduce some rules: no eating whilst watching tv, reading, basically anything distracting because you wont feel it when you’re full.
Have some structure to your day, breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks, and a time frame for when these should be eaten.
If you feel hungry try a drink of water or a cup of tea first, thirst can often be mistaken for hunger.
If you want to eat ask yourself if you’re really hungry or are you just bored/sad/happy/ect, try and keep an eye on when you’re eating your emotions.
Before your meal have a glass of water, apparently this can help you lose 4lbs (over what timescale I don’t know)
When you’re eating go.slowly. I’m naturally a fast eater but it means I can scoff twice as much food down before I get the ‘I’m full’ signal than a normal person.  Have small mouthfuls, chew each one properly. Take a sip of water every now and again. Give your body time to recognise it’s full, you might be surprised how early on that signal kicks in.

As for the not eating for days, that will slow your metabolism and it is IMPOSSIBLE to keep up. Eventually your body will make you eat whether you want to or not and more than likely when you do eat you will binge. Try looking here for advice as to the kind of things you can eat.

I understand eating till you’re fit to burst, trust me on this. I found it helped to realise that feeling full all the time wasn’t actually making me feel better really, and that I was going to learn to have a tummy thats not always full to bursting without wanting to stuff my face. I think that will require a little will power and introspection. I can’t think what else to say other than good luck hun! Thank and take care of your body, it’s the only one you have *hugs* xxx
